Convicted drunk driver denied full and day parole

The drunk driver who killed a 22-year-old woman two and half years ago has been denied both full parole and day parole.

In May of 2011, 36-year-old Natasha Warren slammed into a car being driven by Kassandra Kaulius.

Before the accident, Warren drank a bottle and a half of wine while watching a hockey game.

She has served less than a year of her 37-month sentence for dangerous driving causing death and other charges, but wanted parole.

The parole board ruled that while Warren has made progress, she lacks the insight to deal with her risk of re-offending.

“We are very pleased that she’s being held accountable by the parole board,” says Markita Kaulius, Kassandra’s mother. “It is really the first time in three years that as a family we feel that the justice system actually listened to the victim’s family and did the right thing.”

Warren will be allowed to apply for parole again in one year.
