PRICETON, BC – UPDATE 11:30 A.M. Highway 3, the Hope-Princeton Highway, is expected to be closed in both directions until at least 2:00 P.M. Friday, but could be as late as 4:00 P.M. according to drivebc.ca.
Princeton RCMP confirm a transport driver is dead following the single vehicle crash on Highway 3, 27km east of Princeton Friday morning.
Black ice, fog and speed may have contributed to the fatal crash, according to Staff. Sgt. Kurt Lozinski of the Princeton RCMP.
The deceased died instantly, says Lozinski. Removing the body from the wreck has been a challenge, creating further delays reopening the highway.
A detour is set up via Old Hedley Road to Sterling Creek Road, then back onto Highway 3.
RCMP have yet to release information on where the driver originated from or his hometown.
