Winnipeg police say they’ve busted a bogus bus pass operation.

Three people face forged document charges after Winnipeg Transit found several examples of fake bus passes and notified police.

Police said “several” people were arrested by the commercial crime unit following an investigation that started in April.

Officers charged two men, age 29 and 56, and a 55-year-old woman with trafficking and possessing forged documents.

“A genuine Winnipeg Transit bus pass is characterized by an alphanumeric code in which there is a number used to designate the month (one to 12) and an adult full fare bus pass is signified by a letter “F” for full fare. This alphanumeric code is in holographic material on the bus pass. Each bus pass also contains a unique serial number,” police said in a news release Monday.
