Facebook up and running for most users after site outage

Update (11:50 a.m.): According to a spokesperson from Facebook all users should now be able to post content to their profiles. Facebook attributed the outage to an error during network maintenance. 

“Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%,” said a Facebook spokesperson.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.”

Update (10:00 a.m.): Some users are reporting they are able to post status updates and comments on their profiles. However, the outage appears to still be affecting many users.

When users attempt to post on the site an error message appears that reads, “An error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes.”

Facebook’s mobile applications appear to be affected as well.

A spokesperson from Facebook told Global News they are looking into the problem, but provided no additional information.

Facebook’s developer site is reporting that that Facebook Payments has been down since 4:46 a.m. PDT.
