EDMONTON – Evansburg RCMP say that Highway 16 at Pembina River Bridge is now fully open in both directions.
A crash involving a farming combine and a semi on Highway 16 at the Pembina Bridge shut down traffic in the area earlier on Wednesday.
The crash happened around noon on Tuesday. A farming combine was struck by a semi-truck pulling an excavator, blocking the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
Both drivers were taken to hospital by EMS with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 16 eastbound had to be completely closed and traffic redirected through the Towns of Entwistle and Evansburg. Highway 16 westbound was open to vehicles intermittently.
A small amount of diesel fuel that spilled from the semi had to be cleaned up.
RCMP and Alberta Transportation continue to investigate the crash.
