Alleged Montreal pedophile held for hearing

MONTREAL – A Montreal man will remain behind bars while he faces four sex-related charges involving a young boy in a disturbing case that’s left the Montreal police wondering if there are other victims.

Victor Dube, 68, was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the Montreal police sexual assault squad.

The mother of a 6-year-old boy contacted police April 12 to report her son had been molested while she was having her computer fixed at a man’s home two days earlier.

Police say she first met the man at a restaurant, at which point she was having problems with her computer. She brought the computer to the man’s house, with her son. At some point her son was alone with the man, and after leaving, the boy seemed upset. When his mother asked what was wrong, he told her he had been molested.

A search warrant was executed at the man’s home where police found pornographic photographs of the boy. They also found pornographic images of other children. Investigators are trying to determine if the man produced the other child pornography himself.

Dube has pleaded not guilty to the four charges and was ordered held in custody for a bail hearing Monday.

He is accused of sexually assaulting a minor, sexual interference, producing child pornography and possession of child pornography.
