Anne Mirvish, wife of late ‘Honest’ Ed Mirvish, dead at 94

TORONTO – Anne Lazar Mirvish, artist and wife of Toronto theatre impresario “Honest” Ed Mirvish, has died at the age of 94.

Representatives from Mirvish Productions announced her death in a statement on Friday, saying that she passed away at home surrounded by family.

A funeral will be held on Monday at Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto.

The Hamilton, Ont., native was married to Ed, the founder of Toronto’s iconic discount store Honest Ed’s, for 65 years, until he died at the age of 92 in 2007.

The couple’s only son, theatre producer David Mirvish, founded Mirvish Productions in 1987, and assumed the responsibilities of family’s theatrical interests.

This September marked the 50th anniversary of Mirvish live theatre in Toronto.
