MONTREAL – In an interview with French-language newspaper, Le Devoir, Premier Pauline Marois bashes England’s policy of multiculturalism.

While she admits the French model is not perfect, the Premier says, “in England, they’re at each other’s throats, throwing bombs because it’s multicultural.

Marois explains that people in that kind of society lose their sense of identity.

These comments come admist a discussion around the Parti Quebecois’ plan to introduce a Charter of Values, which could potentially prohibit people like doctors, teachers and public-daycare workers from donning turbans, kippas, hijabs and visible crucifixes.

The party believes the charter will help bring Quebec together, much like Bill 101, the province’s landmark legislation aimed at protecting the French language.

The legislation is expected to be brought forward this fall.
