Global BC’s News Hour is going on the road again!
Chris Gailus, Squire Barnes and Kristi Gordon will be hosting the News Hour from five communities on Vancouver Island beginning on Monday, September 23.
“Global BC is dedicated to telling the stories that matter most, and the News Hour on the Island tour will give us an opportunity to travel across Vancouver Island and report on the stories and issues of most importance to our viewers,” says Kenton Boston, vice president, B.C. and National News. “This iteration of the tour will give viewers in communities across the island the chance to meet Chris, Squire and Kristi, and get a sneak peek into all the hard work that goes into putting the News Hour on air each evening.”
The News Hour on the Island tour will broadcast from the following communities and locations:
Monday, Sept 23 Port Hardy: Carrot Park
Tuesday, Sept 24 Comox: Canadian Forces Base Comox
Wednesday, Sept 25 Parksville: Parksville Community Park
Thursday, Sept 26 Duncan: Duncan City Hall Square
Friday, Sept 27 Tofino: Pacific Sands Beach Resort
Everyone is invited to come down and watch us broadcast the News Hour at 6 p.m. and meet Chris, Squire, Kristi and the crew!
NOTE: When we broadcast from Comox, residents are invited to watch from the Comox Museum. Parking will be at the CANEX and people can just walk across Military Row to the Museum, which is beside the main gate. There will be a chance to meet Squire, Chris and Kristi after the show.

Kristi will also be bringing back the popular junior Meteorologist contest, giving children under 12 the chance to help Kristi deliver the weather broadcast live on-air.
The contest calls for parents and children from each of the five live locations to send in a photo and short paragraph explaining why they would like to deliver the weather. Five winners will then be selected to present alongside Kristi. Winners will also receive an iPod Touch courtesy of Sprott Shaw College as well as an honorary “Global BC Junior Meteorologist” certificate. The deadline to enter is Sunday, September 15, 2013 at midnight.
In addition to reporting on the biggest news of the evening, each News Hour on the Island cast will also include locally-rooted content and elements. Chris Gailus will contribute locally-focused stories and interviews highlighting interesting facts and pressing issues of most importance to each community. Squire Barnes will also focus a special segment on local sports stories.
