TORONTO – Peel police shot an 80-year-old woman with a Taser while arresting her in Mississauga early Wednesday morning.
Peel regional Police responded to a call near Thomas Street and Erin Mills Parkway at approximately 3:30 a.m to investigate a woman walking along the middle of the road.
After speaking to the woman, a police officer deployed a conductive energy weapon – otherwise known as a Taser – according to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). She immediately fell to the ground and was later taken to hospital to treat a fractured hip.
The SIU is investigating, as it does in all police-involved deaths and injuries, and has named on subject officer and two witness officers.
