SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Federal authorities say a northern New York woman who admitted smuggling turtles and reptiles into Canada from the U.S. has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.
U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian says 28-year-old Olivia Terrance of Hogansburg pleaded guilty to smuggling charges in April. Hartunian says Terrance participated in a conspiracy to bring hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of endangered and threatened species across the border for sale to collectors and dealers.

The smuggling took place 2009 and 2010.
Terrance was caught by investigators who tracked her moving a shipment by boat.
Her sentence Friday includes three years of supervision after she’s released from jail.
