A Vancouver Island man who was found guilty of animal cruelty in 2009 has been charged again after allegedly neglecting another dog.
The BC SPCA said Esquimalt resident Hubert Henry left a one-year-old female pit bull named Skylar tethered outdoors without access to adequate food, water or shelter.
After an animal cruelty investigation, Skylar was seized on May 18 and taken into SPCA care.
“Skylar is an amazing dog,” said SPCA Constable Lynsay Bailey. “She was living in the worst possible circumstances, but today she is happy, healthy and very much loved in her new adopted home.”
Henry was found guilty in 2009 for neglecting two other pit bulls that have since been placed into loving homes.
If convicted, Henry faces up to five years in jail, a fine of up to $75,000 and a ban on owning or having custody of animals.
