Crash into bridge could result in charges

KELOWNA, B.C. — Charges are being contemplated against an unidentified Kelowna man after he crashed into Kelowna’s floating bridge while at the helm of a personal watercraft.

The incident happened Sunday at around 5 p.m.

“The West Kelowna RCMP were called to a single vessel collision on the northwest side of the William R. Bennett Bridge on Okanagan Lake,” says Cst. Kris Clark.

“A man riding a personal water craft had collided with the bridge and was fighting with people attempting to rescue him. The man appeared to have suffered a head injury and police were required to assist paramedics in transporting him to the hospital.”

Clark says the 21-year-old man is facing charges of impaired operation of a vessel and uttering threats.
