A man with previous convictions for sexual assault, uttering threats and theft was re-arrested on Sunday, July 14, after he was seen masturbating in Swensson Park in Abbotsford.
At about 9 a.m. a woman and her parents were walking around the park when they noticed a shirtless man touching himself while reclining in an area between the tennis courts and playground.
The woman called the Abbotsford Police and the man left the area. An officer noticed a man matching the description given by the witness on Lefeuvre Road and arrested him.
Thomas Michael Pappas, 49, has now been charged with Indecent Act and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
He is already under probation for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, and Theft under $5,000. His court ordered conditions include:
– No direct or indirect contact with any person under the age of 16
– Not to attend parks, playgrounds, recreation centres or other places a person under the age of 16 might be present or might be expected to be present
– Not to possess firearms or weapons
– Not to possess or consume alcohol or controlled substances
Passas is described at 5’9″ tall, and weighing 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Police say although Pappas has been a Mission resident, it appears he has now moved to Abbotsford.
