The future of garbage is once again at the centre of a battle brewing between regional governments.
Metro Vancouver’s garbage and what to do with it has been a hot button issue for decades. The debate is especially strong in the Fraser Valley, where concerns over an incinerator have sparked controversy.
Last night, Metro Vancouver politicians were grilled by their counterparts from the Fraser Valley over plans to control where 100 per cent of Metro’s garbage is dumped.
Residents in Chilliwack and Abbotsford are concerned about possible pollution.
They argue the plan is only to provide a long-term source of fuel for a garbage incinerator.
