Loaded gun found during traffic stop: police

HALIFAX – Halifax Regional Police say officers arrested a man with a loaded handgun on Wednesday night during a traffic stop in Dartmouth. According to a media release, two officers pulled over a black Dodge Caliber near Pinecrest Dr. and Albro Lake Rd. around 11:30 pm.

The officers smelled marijuana smoke wafting from the car and arrested the driver and three male passengers. A 22-year-old man sitting in the backseat had a loaded handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants.

He will be in Dartmouth Provincial Court today on numerous weapons charges.
