Residents of the Point Douglas community took to the streets Thursday evening to take on area drug dealers by walking their dogs.
Roughly a dozen community members showed up to the neighbourhood’s largest park at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Meade Street.
“We don’t want to get them arrested, we just want them to not deal in the park ’cause that’s for kids and people to enjoy,” said Christine Burrows, organizer for Walking for Change.
Activists have used this tactic before. Six years ago neighbours walked for three days straight, talking to alleged dealers in the park. Since then, the park has been mostly crime free, but recent activity has prompted residents to walk again.
