TORONTO — He’s been all around the world and, before long, Canada’s Justin Bieber will be out of this world.

The 19-year-old pop star and his manager Scott “Scooter” Braun has reportedly purchased a ticket for a trip into space with Virgin Galactic.

“Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts,” Virgin chair Richard Branson tweeted Wednesday. “Congrats, see you up there!”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Ontario-born Bieber retweeted the message but did not comment further.

Braun, 31, also represents Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen, Korean pop star PSY and British group The Wanted.

Virgin Galactic is offering sub-orbital spaceflights to anyone willing to pay $250,000 for a seat on SpaceShip Two. Launched just above the atmosphere from the fixed-wing aircraft White Knight Two, it will fly to a height of 110 km and reach speeds up to 4,000 km/h.

Six passengers will experience a few moments of weightlessness and spectacular views before returning to Earth.

Branson’s spacecraft had its first supersonic, rocket-powered flight test in April and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in New Mexico early next year.

More than 600 people have purchased a ride with Virgin Galactic, including actor Ashton Kutcher and singer Sarah Brightman.

Earlier this year, Bieber tweeted: “I wanna do a concert in space.”
