MONTREAL – Mayor Michael Applebaum has launched two lawsuits in an attempt to recoup public funds.
The City of Montreal has signed off on two lawsuits against groups that include former construction boss Lino Zambito and former city engineer Gilles Surprenant.
Montreal Mayor Michael Applebaum made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon at a press conference.
“On March 27, I announced that the City had taken the first step to recover the money that was stolen from Montreal,” said Applebaum in a statement.
“The Executive Committee was then authorized to file grievances against the various unions whose members included Mr. Gilles Surprenant, Luc Leclerc and François Thériault. Today, we have signed off on two lawsuits that have the same objective: to recover misappropriated funds.”
Others named in the lawsuits include Luc Leclerc, Joanne Martel and Julie Surprenant, as well as Génius Conseil Inc. and Michel Lamonde.
