The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B-C received a special honour today on Thursday.
The group was recognized by the Attorney General of Guatemala, for work it’s done to educate and train Guatemalan justice and law enforcement officials over the past several years.
The country is attempting to crack down on organized crime, which is rampant, not only in Guatemala, but El Salvador and Honduras.
“Really what it is is about having an efficient prosecution penal system, which apart from managing to then arrest and try criminals, it also serves as a deterrent,” said Dr. Claudia Paz y Paz, Attorney General of Guatemala. “Investigations that we have carried out have led to the arrest of gangs and sub-groups of gangs.”
