Hockey fans temporarily prevented from buying Leafs playoff tickets

TORONTO – People itching to get tickets for the Toronto Maple Leafs playoff games ran into several problems Thursday morning soon after the tickets went on sale.

So-called “issues” with the system temporarily prevented Leafs fans from buying tickets.

“We are aware of the issues with the playoff on-sale and are working to get it resolved ASAP,” according to the team’s twitter account.

One Ticketmaster sales representative told Global News some of the problems may be related to the limited amount of tickets released.

The tickets were only available to members of the team’s Last Minute Club.

Only ten per cent of the tickets not currently sold were put up for sale Thursday at 10 a.m. and just an hour later, a Ticketmaster sales representative said, those had been sold.

If you missed the Wednesday deadline for signing up for the Last Minute Club, you will have another chance to try and purchase tickets.

The other 90 per cent of the unsold tickets will go on sale to the general public on a yet to be announced date.

However, the price for those may be a little more than the regular season as ticket prices area being raised approximately 75 per cent.

On the Ticketmaster website, tickets for the first home game at the Air Canada Centre varied in prices from $44.75 to $808.75.
