TORONTO – Members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church will picket Monday’s memorial service for movie critic Roger Ebert.

Ebert died last week at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer.

The Kansas-based group announced Saturday it will protest “in lawful proximity” to the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago from 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. because it believes Ebert was “a f** enabler.”

“American entertainment industry publicity leech Roger Ebert took to Twitterverse to mock the faithful servants of God at Westboro Baptist Church,” reads a release. “Now the famed critic is in a new jurisdiction, where he can see the blessings poured out on God’s humble servants in heaven, from his seat of eternal torment & sorrow in Hell! It’s too late for the fool Roger Ebert!”

On March 25, Ebert tweeted “Just another day at Westboro Baptist” with a link to an excerpt from Does Jesus Really Love Me?: A Gay Christian’s Pilgrimage in Search of God in America by Jeff Chu, a gay man who spent a day at Westboro.
