A “plus size symposium” is taking place today in downtown Vancouver.
The event targets plus sized women and hopes to provide them with the tools to improve their lives and fight bullying.
“The message today is to live life now, regardless of your size,” says Louise Green, Organizer of Platform for Plus Size.
“Don’t wait on the sidelines of life because of your size.”
The keynote speaker is Jennifer Livingstone, an American news anchor who went viral after she responded on-air to a viewer who had written into the station to criticize her appearance.
“It hit me in a way that sparked anger and frustration, there is this notion that people of this size cannot be part of our culture,” says Livingstone.
Livingstone hopes that her message of believing and feeling good about yourself gets through.
