Restoration work at Halifax’s airport, which was scheduled to begin Tuesday, has been delayed until at least Friday because of poor weather in the forecast.
The work at Halifax Stanfield International Airport will restore an 800-metre section of the main runway and is expected to last until the end of October or early November.

During construction, the operational length of the main runway will be shortened and the secondary runway will be closed for approximately five days.
Airport officials say all regularly scheduled aircraft will be able to operate.
However, the instrument landing system (ILS) will only be available on the secondary runway. Since some aircraft rely on ILS during poor visibility and high winds, delays could be possible during poor weather and while the secondary runway is closed.
The airport authority plans to monitor weather conditions and construction could begin sooner than Friday if the weather allows.
