ATVer rescued in Peachland

The winch team was called in Monday afternoon to rescue a man who went over an embankment on his ATV in the hills above Peachland.

The rescue operation involved multiple agencies including B.C. Air Rescue, Vernon Search and Rescue (VSAR) winch team and Penticton Search and Rescue (PENSAR).

Leigh Pearson with VSAR told Global News that the winch team was called out around 1 p.m.

The ATVer was riding about five kilometres up Munro Forestry Service Road when he went down a roughly 20metre embankment.

The extent of the man’s injuries are not known but Pearson said the man was stable and alert after being rescued from the scene.

He was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital.
