TORONTO – A man arrested following a dramatic highway chase and multiple alleged shootings and attempted carjackings is facing more than 30 charges.
Toronto police say the string of events began early Wednesday morning when the man allegedly attempted to shoot his brother near York University.
The man then allegedly carjacked a vehicle and attempted to steal multiple other cars, pistol-whipping one man in the process. Police allege he also shot and seriously injured a woman while stealing her car and fired shots at police while fleeing the scene.
Ontario Provincial Police got involved when the suspect began to drive northbound on Highway 400, at which point he parked a second time and allegedly shot at police again before being stopped with a spike strip near Orillia, Ont.
Police say 31-year-old Kristian Jarvis of Toronto faces 34 counts that include six of attempted murder, four of discharging a firearm with intent and three of armed robbery.
