Winnipeg woman dies after head-on collision on Highway 16

Manitoba RCMP are investigating after a 58-year-old woman from Winnipeg died from a head-on collision over the weekend.

On Sunday at 5:40 p.m., RCMP were called on scene to a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 16, around 15 kilometres south of Binscarth, Man.

RCMP said a southbound pickup truck collided head-on with a northbound SUV.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 62-year-old Winnipeg man, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. The woman, who was the driver of the SUV, was pronounced dead on the scene. Her 43-year-old passenger, from the Rural Municipality of Clements, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the collision, RCMP said.

Binscarth is 335 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg
