SARNIA, Ont. – A 12-day blockade by aboriginals of the CN Rail line in Sarnia, Ontario has been taken down.
Members of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation dismantled the blockade last night, just hours after a judge ordered them to do so.
The blockade was set up to protest the Harper government’s omnibus Bill C-45.
The protesters claim the law eliminates treaty and aboriginal rights set out in the Constitution.
The blockade was one of several actions taken across Canada by aboriginals to protest the way the Harper government treats them.
CN says rail traffic on the affected line will be back to normal once the tracks and signals are inspected.
