OLIVER, B.C. – Near Midnight Monday, on a remote orchard-line road in the south Okanagan, RCMP say three masked men allegedly forced their way into a home, terrorized and beat the residents and ransacked their belongings.
The couple who were attacked in the home along the 5000 block of Sunflower Street in Oliver told police they were bound by men who brandished two guns and other weapons.
RCMP believe the incident was targeted and not a random act of violence.
After the suspects tore through the house, they left and the couple freed themselves and made their way to the South Okanagan Medical Clinic where police were called in.
The female victim was, as police say in a press release, “pistol whipped”, resulting in serious head injuries.
The male was not seriously injured, according to RCMP.
Police say the incident was, “a target event and not a random act.”
“The Oliver RCMP ask that should anyone have information regarding this incident, to please contact the Oliver RCMP at 250-495-7236 or via Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477,” said Cpl. Dan Mokaluk.
