2 teens charged after threats made against Swift Current school

Two people have been charged after a Swift Current, Sask. high school received threats this week.

According to police, shortly before 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Swift Current RCMP received a complaint that a student had made threats against Swift Current Comprehensive High School.

Police later arrested a man in Swift Current in connection with the complaint. Officers also identified another person of interest, who was also arrested.

RCMP said officers seized one airsoft replica gun during a follow-up investigation at a residence in the city.

Ryan Pierone, 18, has been charged with uttering threats and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Kolton Cunningham, 18, has been charged with uttering threats.

Pierone and Cunningham appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT. Pierone is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 4, 2017 while Cunningham is scheduled to appear Friday afternoon.

Police said during the incident, there was no immediate risk to students, staff or the school. No classes were disrupted.
