WATCH ABOVE: The family of a missing Edmonton woman is desperately searching for answers. Santana Lawrason-Hoybak was last heard from more than a week ago when she went to an RCMP detachment to report a crime. Now, as Quinn Ohler reports, their biggest fear is that she's going to be a part of the growing list of missing and murdered women cases that are never solved – Oct 12, 2016

The family of a missing 30-year-old Edmonton woman is begging for any information to get their loved one home.

Santana Lawrason-Hoybak was last heard from earlier this month, when she went to the Spruce Grove RCMP detachment on Oct. 4 and used the after-hours phone to report that she was the victim of a violent crime.

“Before members could get to the detachment to meet with her, she left,” RCMP Cpl. Kimberly Mueller said.

“We don’t have anything to indicate that anything has happened to her,” Mueller said.”We just want to contact her, investigate the complaint she reported and make sure she is safe and sound.”

But the family said the disappearance is out of character for Lawrason-Hoybak.

“There hasn’t been any word, no Facebook activity, nothing,” said her cousin, Jasmine Hayes. “We’re fearing the worst.”

Lawrason-Hoybak, 30, lives a high-risk lifestyle and works the streets of Edmonton. Because of this, her cousin and sister are afraid her disappearance isn’t being treated seriously.

Hayes, along with Santana’s sister, Paris Lawrason, have been putting up posters in hopes someone may have seen her.

“If you’ve seen her, talked to her, just let us know she’s OK,” Paris Lawrason said.

The family has been through a lot in recent weeks. On the same day Paris Lawrason found out her sister was missing, she buried her brother, Christopher Lee Giroux, Edmonton’s 33rd homicide victim of 2016.

“It’s been a rough week trying to deal with them at the same time,” Paris Lawrason said.

Lawrason-Hoybak is described as being about 5’2″ tall, weighing about 95 pounds with dark skin, brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone who has seen or spoken with Santana Lawrason-Hoybak since Oct. 4 is asked to phone the Spruce Grove RCMP detachment at 780-962-2222 or their local police department.
