Class-action lawsuit in Air Canada Halifax crash landing going forward

Lawyers representing passengers aboard an Air Canada plane that crash landed in Halifax more than a year ago will be heading to court in December.

It was en route from Toronto to Halifax when it touched down 335 metres short of the runway. It then skidded and bounced more than 300 additional metres before coming to a stop across the runway.

There were 133 passengers and five crew on board when the crash happened. Twenty-five people were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Wagners Law Firm has said some passengers suffered broken bones, scratches, neck and back problems as a result of the crash.

The next step in the proposed class-action lawsuit is to have it verified. Wagner’s says a hearing will be held at Nova Scotia Supreme Court beginning Dec. 12.
