Herman Echevarria, Sr., the husband of Real Housewives of Miami cast member Alexia Echevarria, was found dead at Miami’s Epic Hotel on Monday.
Miami police completed their investigation and ruled that Echevarria died from natural causes. It’s suspected that he suffered a heart attack. Police also confirmed that Echevarria’s family is in town and currently making funeral arrangements.
Echevarria — who appeared on the show with his wife — was found dead in his hotel room on Monday morning “when family and employees found it odd that he didn’t show up to work and wasn’t answering his phone.”

“The Echevarria family is heartbroken over the sudden passing of our patriarch Herman Echevarria this morning,” Alexia said in a statement, which was later posted on Instagram. “He was a family man, a hardworking businessman, dedicated to helping others and a pillar of his community that was loved by everyone who’s life he touched. We ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of grieving.”
Alexia and Echevarria separated after 15 years of marriage in May 2015.
Echevarria was like a father to her two sons Peter and Frankie, from a previous marriage to convicted drug smuggler Pedro Luis Rosello. (Rosello was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison after taking part in a huge cocaine-smuggling operation.)
