Police in the Greater Toronto Area are searching for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was seriously burned after being thrown into a bonfire at a high school “bush party” attended by close to 150 teenagers.
York Regional Police responded to a report of an injured teen behind the Holland Landing Community Centre at 19513 Yonge St. in the Town of East Gwillimbury, near Newmarket, just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 5.
Officers discovered the boy suffering from “significant burns” and transported him to hospital for treatment.

Police conducted an investigation and determined an estimated 150 teens from local high schools attended the party and a group of four male suspects instigated fights with numerous party-goers.
During one fight, police said a suspect threw the teenage boy into the bonfire and seriously injured him.
Investigators are asking any witnesses to come forward with information on the identity of the suspect who allegedly threw the boy into the fire.

He is described by police as a black male, aged 17 to 19 years old, standing 5’11” to 6’1″ with a thin but muscular build, short black hair and a thick Jamaican accent.
Police are also hoping to speak with anyone who may have taken pictures during the party and said the investigation is ongoing.
