BURLINGTON, Ont. – A Hamilton man who promised to run anti-bullying campaigns in high schools is instead charged with fraud over $5,000.
Halton Regional Police allege Joseph Drexler visited a business in Burlington, Ont., and persuaded them to sponsor him for more than $40,000.
Police allege Drexler promised to use the money to run an anti-bullying program, dubbed “Be the Game” or “Kind Every Time,” at more than 30 schools across Halton Region and Hamilton.
They allege he never made his presentations and in many cases never even contacted schools to set one up.
They say he continued to mislead the sponsoring business by saying presentations were scheduled and about to go ahead.
Drexler is to appear in court in Milton, Ont., next month.
