A 6-year-old boy died after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike just south of the village of Barnwell, Alta. around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said both the vehicle and the bicycle were heading north on Range Road 174 when the collision occurred.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by EMS and then flown by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Calgary with life-threatening injuries. He did not survive.
Victim Services have been called in to help the boy’s family. His name is not being released.
The investigation continues, but police said no charges are pending.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Taber is about 50 kilometres east of Lethbridge.
