Model Jen Wilke has turned to the Internet to crowdfund her career, setting a goal of USD$10,000 on the site Go Fund Me.

Wilke has been a cover girl for Playboy, Maxim and FHM magazines but says she still needs help making ends meet.

“The offers that I am getting for photo-shoots, castings, and key social events are what I have always dreamed of, and I am still worrying about covering basic expenses like clothing, travel, and lodging. It would mean the world to me to be able to focus on my modeling career exclusively,” she wrote on her campaign page.

“Key social events” include the Maxim Hot 100 party, which Wilke recently attended according to her social media accounts.

“The Maxim Hot 100 party was so much fun, and I ended up making some business connections which is always welcomed, along with new friendships,” she wrote.

The 32-year-old model from Texas appears to be using the funds for gas as well as to fix her car as she goes to various events and photo shoots.

Some of her fans have been supportive, donating up to USD$65 each in return for signed photos and a calendar.

But some people have been critical of the aspiring actress’ approach to career advancement.

Wilke’s Go Fund Me description points out that her campaign has an altruistic purpose.

“I know that I am almost at a point where I could support myself and once I am there, I intend on using my profile and my position for the good of society. I just need to get there first.”

The campaign has raised USD$830 at the time of publishing.
