Surrey RCMP are investigating a stabbing incident that left one man injured Sunday afternoon.

It happened in the area of 132 Street and 100th Avenue around 4:50 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from several stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where it turned out his injuries were non-life-threatening. He has now been released.

Investigators say the stabbing was the result of an altercation that occurred between two men inside a vehicle. It appears as though the men knew each other.

Officers have conducted neighbourhood canvassing and spoke with several witnesses. They are trying to gather more information about exactly what happened inside the vehicle.

The suspect, who fled on foot, has not been captured by police, but police say they know his identity and will be attempting to make an arrest as soon as possible.
