The parents of a two-year-old girl who drowned in a storm water pond last summer have been charged in connection with her death.

Trevor MacDonald, 42, and Robin MacDonald, 36, have been jointly charged with one count of failing to provide the necessaries of life. They are scheduled to appear in Morinville Provincial Court on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016.

On July 25, 2015, two-year-old Jade MacDonald was playing with her siblings in a park near her home when she wandered away.

RCMP officers responded to a report of the missing child in Morinville’s The Lakes subdivision at around 11:40 a.m. When they arrived, police found the girl unresponsive in a nearby pond.
