Four teens charged after 10-day string of Regina gun incidents

Regina police say four male youths are facing a total of 58 charges in connection with some gun-related incidents around the city.

Police say they have responded to at least 17 firearms calls since June 18.

On June 21, a man was arrested while carrying a shotgun.

From June 18 to June 25, there were four incidents where windows of houses were shot out.

From June 18 to June 26, police responded to five events involving pellet guns, CO2 pistols and BB guns. One man was struck by a BB gun pellet on June 21 and received a minor injury, police say.

There were also two incidents on June 20 and June 22 where two men were shot and wounded.

After an investigation into the offences, Regina police arrested two 15-year-old boys and one 14-year-old boy from Regina. A 13-year-old from Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask., was also arrested.

Police allege that their recent activities match the gun calls around the city. During the investigation, police also seized a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle and a loaded zip-gun (improvised firearm).

The four boys are appearing in Youth Court Monday morning on the 58 firearm-related charges. The charges include two counts of careless storage of a firearm, for the sawed off .22 and the zip gun, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon for the two weapons, two counts of possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Police are still investigating similar incidents around the city.
