Winnipeg police make arrest after man allegedly lit on fire downtown

WINNIPEG –Winnipeg police say a downtown resident was lit on fire Tuesday afternoon.

Two suspects forced their way into a home on the 300 block of Qu’Appelle Avenue and assaulted a 27-year-old living inside, according to police.

As the victim lay on the ground, a flammable liquid was allegedly poured onto him and ignited.

Someone walking in the area heard his cries for help and called 9-11.

Royce Darcy Berens, 34, has been arrested for his alleged involvement.
