RCMP investigating after shots fired at car in Dieppe

RCMP are investigating shots being fired at a vehicle in Dieppe early Thursday morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to Gauvin Road after reports of a shooting incident. When they arrived they found a car with bullet holes in it an apartment building parking lot.

No one was inside the car and there are no reports of anyone being injured.

“This is still the beginning of the investigation and we’re not aware of anyone in danger at the moment,” Pelletier said.

Area resident John Gendron said he heard shots, and reported to police that he’d seen a car drive away.

“All I heard was four bang-bang-bang-bang,” Gendron said.

An apartment manager in the area, Nina Gauvin, says parents living in her building were concerned for their children.

“We have a lot of kids in the building so it’s nerve-wracking for them to come out and see cops and they don’t know what’s going on,” Gauvin said.

The Codiac RCMP Emegency Response Team was on the scene, as well as police search dogs and the forensics team.

Gauvin Road was closed for several hours while police searched the area, and schools kept students inside.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Gauvin Road area between the hours of 1 and 2 a.m. are being asked to contact police at 857-2400 or anonymously contact www.crimenb.ca.
