The body of a four-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday night in Elmsvale, N.S., was found early Thursday morning.

Nicholas Baker was last seen at his grandparents’ home at about 9:50 p.m. The body was found nearby shortly after 2 a.m. the next morning.

Nova Scotia RCMP told Global News they believe the boy wandered away from the home located near Highway 224 and Cirrus Lane.

He may not have been wearing a shirt but was wearing jeans at the time of his disappearance.

Staff Sgt. Dave Thibeau said police are now investigating and that it’s too early to tell what led to the boy’s death.

RCMP, among other crews, searched for the boy. Emergency Health Services also attended the scene.
