WINNIPEG – Ontario’s premier isn’t making any firm promises, but says if she shuffles her cabinet, she hopes to achieve gender parity.
Kathleen Wynne appeared at a panel discussion at the federal Liberal convention in Winnipeg Saturday and was asked about rampant speculation in recent months that a provincial cabinet shuffle is in the works.
Wynne referred to a “hypothetical cabinet shuffle” and said she would like to have an equal number of men and women in her cabinet.
However, she pointed out that she must consider other factors such as experience and regional representation.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau included an equal number of men and women when he put together his first cabinet last year.
Wynne joked that will put pressure on her to do the same.
