Dog owners in the Maple Ridge area on edge, as a second Mastiff has gone missing from the Whonnock area.
“We just want him back. I don’t care about the circumstances, just give us our boy,” says Primo Cozzi.
Cozzi’s six-year-old Mastiff, named Mayhem, has been missing from his home along 280th Street and 96th Avenue since Wednesday morning. Mayhem never wanders from home, and has intestinal troubles that require special food and medication.
“What do you do? He’s never taken off before, so it was kind of a given that someone had taken him,” says Cozzi.
“If somebody does have him, if they could take him to a vet or the SPCA. I don’t know what you have him for, but he’s not going to be any good to anybody if he’s going to be sick.”
Mayhem’s family is suspicious about his disappearance because several other animals have gone missing from the area in recent weeks. Last month, another Mastiff — a 7-year-old named Lager — also went missing, just a couple of blocks away from where Mayhem lived.

“What is going on, why are dogs going missing?” says Kelsi Padula, Lager’s owner.
“I’ve heard of other attempted dognappings in the area as well too. All these thoughts run through your head.”
Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating Lager’s disappearance. Mayhem’s family says they’ll contact RCMP if he doesn’t return home by the end of the weekend.
