When the trailer for the Paul Feig all-female remake of ’80s favourite Ghostbusters came out in March, the internet response was less-than-impressed. Now, the trailer for the film has the sad distinction of being the most “disliked” trailer ever posted to YouTube (at the time of this writing, it has over 600,000 thumbs-down votes, and just over 200,000 thumbs-up ones).

Screen Crush reports that this is the first movie trailer to ever appear on YouTube’s Top 100 least-liked videos. They even calculated the math behind the numbers:
“Justin Bieber’s Baby (#1 on the list) has a whopping 6 million thumbs-down votes, but that’s on 1.36 billion views for a 226:1 ratio of views to dislikes. The Ghostbusters trailer is remarkable in that it has 619,218 dislikes on just 29.8 million views. That’s approximately 59:1, almost exactly four times the amount of dislikes per view of Baby.”
Because that ratio seems abnormally high, some publications are speculating that certain people are so angry about the Ghostbusters remake they’re using bots to artificially dislike the trailer. Whether the cause of their online rage is because the film is a cast of women or because the movie is being remade isn’t clear.

The sentiment leaked onto Twitter, with people defending the trailer and, of course, tearing it apart.
Some attacked the attackers, calling them “misogynists.”
Others said they were excited for the new Ghostbusters.
Still others took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the trailer.
