Police vessel set adrift in the path of the Seabus in North Vancouver

Police are investigating after an RCMP police vessel was set adrift in North Vancouver.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. Friday morning, North Vancouver RCMP was dispatched to the St. Roch Dock adjacent to the Lonsdale Quay in response to a report from the Coast Guard that RCMP Patrol Vessel Inkster was adrift and in the path of the Seabus.

The vessel was towed undamaged back to the dock.

The preliminary investigation has determined through video surveillance that two men had untied the moorings shortly after 11 p.m.

The North Vancouver RCMP is currently investigating multiple offences relating to the incident, including criminal negligence and mischief.

The RCMP say the potential consequences could have been extremely dangerous and there was a real possibility people could have been hurt.

Anyone with any information related to the incident is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP.
