WINNIPEG — One woman is in custody after assaulting police officers and causing a five-car pileup Monday night.

A 36-year-old woman travelling westbound in a black SUV on Portage Avenue at Woodlands Crescent drove over the raised median into oncoming traffic.

Police were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. Five cars were involved in the incident, and one of those vehicles managed to roll over.

Fourteen people were involved, but police said all of them sustained only minor injuries.

The 36-year-old female was arrested after she assaulted officers by spitting on them. Alcohol is being considered as a factor.
