It was a historic night for Premier Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan part as they swept to an overwhelming victory in the 2016 provincial election.

Wall easily won his riding of Swift Current where he has captured the seat five times for his party. He first won the seat in 1999 for the newly formed Saskatchewan Party made up of former Conservatives and Liberals.
“I want to, at the outset, thank the people of the province of Saskatchewan who in great numbers went to the polling stations in their neighbourhoods, and in their rural communities and in Northern Saskatchewan and they exercised their democratic right,” Wall told a crowd of supporters.
“They have cast their ballot and for a majority they have reposed their trust in us again. We will not take a day for granted; we will work every day to earn that support.”
Wall, who was first elected premier in 2007, won the third largest majority in the province’s history in 2011 as his Saskatchewan Party was elected with 49 out of 58 seats.
“We had doorknockers out every day like we were in the race of our life and it turned out in our favour,” said Wall’s campaign director Trevor Moe.
Polls throughout the campaign had suggested that Wall would defeat the New Democrats for the third time since 2007.
