Police say a man wanted in connection with a fatal alleged hit-and-run in Scarborough last week has turned himself in.
It’s alleged 25-year-old Saeed Moravvej Torbati, of Ottawa, was driving a black Mercedes that struck and killed a 56-year-old woman last Thursday at Markham Road and Nashdene Road.
Police allege the driver stopped, exited his vehicle, then got back in and fled the scene.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Torbati turned himself in on Sunday and has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death. He appeared in court Monday morning.
Police are still looking for the suspect vehicle, which they describe as a 2012 black Mercedes Benz CLS 550 with front-end damage and Ontario licence plate BYVK 272.
